Crew Welfare Services

Usually there is someone onboard who is responsible for crew welfare. Such people may be 'welfare officers' or 'counsellors' or have more general responsibilities such as 'crew activities'. As required by MLC 2006, medical care is available to all crew members free of charge. However, some may be reluctant to speak to the ship's doctor for reasons that include fear of dismissal on health grounds and the constraints of the onboard hierarchy. An experienced maritime welfare worker observed:

"In general, there is no opposition to activities of welfare organisations but cruise companies do not necessarily have a welfare mentality. Rather, they have a US industry ethos and they are not inclined to indulgence." Nowadays, crewmembers need to use voice, email and social media to stay connected with their loved ones in much the same way as they do on land. To meet the needs of our ever evolving market, Navarino has developed the most complete crew welfare solutions portfolio including:

  • 1) Crew Calling
  • 2) Crew E-mail
  • 3) Crew Internet
  • 4) Crew GSM
